The Argentinian Malambo sensations, MALEVO, make their thrilling UK stage debut with seven shows at London’s Peacock Theatre 31 October – 4 November.
The dynamic all-male troupe, created by director, choreographer and dancer Matías Jaime has reimagined the traditional folkloric dance of Malambo and elevated it to blazing heights. Infused with elements of flamenco and pulsating live drumming, MALVEO pushes the Malambo style beyond its limits and gives audiences an extraordinary visual and sensory experience unlike any other.
Malambo, a traditional dance of the Argentinian Gauchos (cowboys), is a dance of great virility and dexterity. Handed down from generation to generation, the choreography combines the use of boleadoras – a leather and stone hunting tool used by Gauchos – with pounding movements, energetic stomping (zapateados) and lightning footwork (cepillados).
MALEVO, 2023 America’s Got Talent All-Stars, burst onto the UK scene with their blistering appearance on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. They are official Cultural Ambassadors to the National Identity of Argentina and have thrilled audiences around the world in events and performances, including their year-long residency at Universal Studios Japan; and in collaboration with Latin pop-star Ricky Martin, Cirque du Soleil and more.
