Joana Carneiro Conducts the Detroit Symphony Orchestra

Joana Carneiro returns to the USA to conduct the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a trio of concerts on the 03-05 November. The programme features Falla’s Suite No. 2 from The Three-Cornered Hat, Mason Bates’ Cello Concerto played by cellist Joshua Roman, and Stravinsky’s Petrushka. More information and tickets are available here. Acclaimed Portuguese conductor Joana Carneiro is Principal Guest Conductor of the Real Filharmonia de Galicia and Artistic Director of the Gulbenkian Youth Orchestra, a post she has held since 2013. Among her 2023/24 season highlights are debuts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Scottish National Symphony, Bremen Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Bordeaux Aquitaine and Musikkollegium Winterthur, as well as return collaborations with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, NAC Orchestra in Ottawa,  and the English National Opera for a revival of The Handmaid’s Tale.
