Manoj Kamps Makes Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra Debut

5 Sep 2023

Manoj Kamps curates and conducts two concerts with Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra this season.

The first concert features music by Debussy, Van Veldhuizen, Sondheim, and Björk and takes place on 8 September at De Doelen Rotterdam. With Kamps leading the curation of this special occasion, the concert will be preceded by a photography exhibition by Rik Versteeg and the performance itself features vocalist Diamanda La Berge Dramm, soprano Katharine Dain, and bass baritone Cameron Bernard Jones. The music making continues after the concert, with an imitate performance of Sondheim songs in the foyer.

Following a recent debut with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra at the 2023 Holland Festival this summer, Kamps’ upcoming highlights include an extensive 8-concert tour with Orchestra of the 18th Century across The Netherlands and Belgium, as well as a return to Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in their regional series with Brahms’ Symphony 2. Now a regular guest conductor at Dutch National Opera’s Opera Forward Festival, Kamps returns in spring 2024 for the world premiere of Ellen Reid’s The Shell Trial (with an ensemble from Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in the pit), a new opera commissioned by DNO and co-produced with Het Geluid Maastricht, Opera Philadelphia and Bregenz Festival.
