Xian Zhang Returns to Philadelphia Orchestra

Now a regular guest of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Xian Zhang returns to conduct 3 subscription concerts on 1, 2, 4 February 2024 presented in honour of the concertmaster David Kim’s 25th Anniversary.

Zhang conducts a new suite arranged by Kim which combines The Four Seasons by Vivaldi with The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Piazzolla, with Kim performing as the soloist. The second half of the programme features Mozart Symphony 39.

Following her debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2021, where they recorded the multi Grammy Award-winning album Letters for the Future with Time for Three, Zhang returned for two subscription engagements in 2021/22 as well as a Saratoga concert in summer 2022. After these upcoming concerts in February 2024, Zhang returns to the orchestra again at the end of the season for another summer concert in Saratoga, featuring soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

Now in her 8th season as Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Zhang appears regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, London Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St Luke’s. Other upcoming highlights include a return to Boston Symphony and her second production at the Metropolitan Opera (following her hugely successful debut this season conducting Madama Butterfly).
